How to Be Always Successful?

We could say that most people in the current modern world are almost obsessed with success, with the idea of success. There is so much written and said about "success" or "failure".

But what is success or failure really in the world? Is there an absolute definition of success that is guaranteed to make you happy?

It might seem like it. Like having a lot of money, millions of dollars, seems to be the most common criteria because money is just so easily interchangeable for almost anything that you want. But the truth is that achieving any goal that you define as success only gives a very temporary illusion of happiness at best. Very soon you'll find that the horizon has shifted, the goalpost has moved again and again. You will find something else to be bothered about or concerned about.

Choosing Your Interpretation

The truth is that what we consider "success" is a subjective interpretation of events based on your own standards or society's standards or your social circle's standards and so on.

So then how to be always successful?

Always treat whatever happened as a success. Interpret it as a success. You always have the power to choose your own interpretation.

For example, a business or a project has "failed"? Reflect on it and see what are the lessons that you can learn from it. There is always a lesson in everything that happens that is available to you. Therefore you have learned one or more lessons and that is a success. Or even more powerfully, you may have unlearned something that was unhelpful.

Of course, this goes even deeper than that. I'll leave you with a powerful quote from the Tao Te Ching on which to reflect and meditate.

The Master, by residing in the Tao,
sets an example for all beings.
Because he doesn't display himself,
people can see his light.
Because he has nothing to prove,
people can trust his words.
Because he doesn't know who he is,
people recognize themselves in him.
Because he has no goal in mind,
everything he does succeeds.
